Ashley & Matt : Vermont Wedding : Castle Hill Resort (Part One)

As we journey to weddings, Carin and I often get the bonus of traveling through bits of Vermont we have never seen. Driving through unfamiliar countryside helps to get us looking, igniting the desire to capture what surrounds us - to the point where we sometimes have to fight the urge to pull over.  This past weekend it was a century old barn with a patchwork fieldstone foundation that turned our heads (note to selves next time we're in . . . er, wherever that might have been).  But we motored on, excited to meet Ashley and Matt.  We saw the ever present cow and familiar rolling hills that the Green Mountain state is famous for, and as the roadside meandered alongside picturesque streams and brooks, we couldn't help but notice the scars and boulder fields left from Irene.  Driving up to Castle Hill, a stately stone manor perched in view of Okemo,  surounded by lush lilacs and gardens in their prettiest Spring bloom, we let out a sigh.

A Vermont wedding...there really is no comparison.

At first the locale was enough to get us giddy, but then we met Lisa, event manager extraordinaire.   She steers the wedding bus at Castle Hill and it's quite a treat to have someone like her  who knows the ins and outs of a day.   Once we got the quick tour and the rundown of the events to come (Lisa even gave us a cheat sheet) we were off to find our couple.  Walking towards the spa we couldn't help but notice a little angel with an updo holding hands with a pretty brunette.  "YOU must be a flowergirl!" we said.  She looked up and gave a proud smile.  Her escort turned to us.

"Two House Photo?"

"Ashley?!"

And we were off to the races.  After exchanging hugs and some long overdue face-to-face introductions (we love our Boston brides!) I headed to the spa for hair & make up, while Carin headed to The Castle to find Matt.  As the day unfolded it progressed so naturally that you wouldn't have even known there was a schedule. The perfect combination of relaxed and excited.  Smiles and laughter echoed through the halls, little girls twirled in poofy dresses and boys mugged for the camera.  Everyone surrounding Matt and Ashley were so clearly enthusiastic about what was about to happen. . .

including us.

Part Two coming soon!
